Course Projects

As part of the course you will be required to produce projects on MMS and ADS I am only going to cover the MMS project. The MMS project that you produce will be very flexible and will allow you scope to define your own choice of option. there are two types of option available to your work group (4 person team)

1. The study of two Organisations

During this choice you will compare two of the same departments ie, two MT platoons from different units or two rifle companies from different units etc, etc.

2. Topical Evaluation of a management issue in your work.

The work content of the project will require you to plan it in depth. The project should also follow a set pattern, in as much as, because their are four people working on the same topic to produce one end result, you must make it so that the instructor can not find the joins the each of your area of responsability. The topic should flow as if only one person has produced it. You will need some very good planning. The final project will be submitted in the form of a portfolio to your instructor, it will need to be no less than 4 - 6 sides of A4 paper each. It should also contain diagrams, schematics, organisation charts and any figures.

Your project will consist of the following:

An index Sheet.

Your job description (ensure you have all 4, one from each of you)

Organisational chart (submit all 4 from the group)

Your commanding officers mission statement (all 4)

Your action plan

All the content pages that you have all compiled (the meat of the project)

A final Summary sheet

Your reflections (insert all 4 from the group)

Insert all the notes from your presentation (the one listed below)

Last but not least your bibliography.

Presentation:

You will also deliver an oral presentation during the course, the presentation and the project above go hand in hand. As a guide the group will have to make the presentation last for about 20 - 30 minutes, this will give each person about 5 - 7 minutes each to talk on the area they have produced. Remember you also need an introduction, middle of the lesson and a conclusion.

Be warned the presentation is not to be a simple regurgitation of facts or figures but should be presented as a brief with the content reflecting the nature of the topic you have all picked to do.

When you do your presentation you talk about how you went about compiling you portfolio, the advantages and disadvantages you found, what new ideas you had learnt from each other, what problems you had finding out information, what resources you had or did not have in order to complete you task.

The best way to do a presentation is to use PowerPoint, if you do not know how to use it, then find out now. If you do use PowerPoint do not stay behind the desk, get out in front of you class an inject some humor, personality, confidence but above all know you subject matter.
