Officers In the Sergeants Mess

The Sergeants Mess is renowned for the respect and hospitality shown to Officers of all seniorities. All Officers should follow these simple guidelines regarding attendance and behaviour in the Mess:

1. Never attend unless personally invited.
(This applies especially to St Patrick's Day).

2. Do not outstay your welcome.
If in doubt as to how long you are expected to stay,
verify this before you arrive.

3. Never discuss, and avoid being drawn towards, controversial subjects, particularly religion and the abilities and shortcomings of other officers, Warrant Officers and Non Commissioned Officers.

4. Do not use bad language.

5. Immediately on entering the Sergeants Mess, Officers are to remove their headdress, even during an inspection.

6. On departing the Sergeants Mess, thank the Regimental Sergeant Major if present, or the Senior Warrant Officer.
